STUDENT LIFE
MJA offers your standard core courses such as Math, Science, Language Arts and Social Studies. However, what sets us apart from a traditional school is the integration of technology into the curriculum. We plan to introduce distant learning courses via the internet as well as offer a wide array of electives. They include the following:
Story Book Layout
Photography
Video Production
Broadcasting
Cooking/Baking
Sewing
Etiquette (universal greeting, handshake, posture, hygiene, table manners, etc…)
Word processing/typing
Dance
Language
Music
Art
Most importantly, incorporating charitable giving as part of our curriculum makes us a model school for others to follow. Every Friday, for the latter half of the day, our girls will work on projects geared towards giving back to society and showing an unlimited loving-kindness to all others. The goal of these projects are to instill in each student a greater appreciation for life and understanding the true and magnificent power of giving. A few of the projects will be geared towards the following awareness days:
March 8: International Women's Day
March 10: National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day
March 22: World Water Day
April 3: International Day for Mine Awareness
April 22: Earth Day
June 20: World Refugee Day
September 21: International Day of Peace
October 16: World Food Day
October 17: International Day for the Eradication of Poverty
November 16: International Day of Tolerance
November 20: Universal Children’s Day
December 1: World AIDS Day
December 10: Human Rights Day
MJA not only focuses on our girls but also on the involvement of the parent/guardian in the lives their children. We gear all of our programs and events towards parent and student participation. It is our belief that parent involvement is a way to instill pride and interest in their child’s education, increase student achievement, and enhance a sense of community and commitment. Some of these events include:
- International Day
- Presentation Fair
- Communicators of Tomorrow
- Talent Showcase
- Spelling Bee
- Family Fun Day
- Media Night
- Heritage Festival
- Career Day
- Walkathon (Walk for a cause)
- Annual Tea Party
- Graduation
